Chore Rotation Modes: Share Household Tasks Fairly Without Rescheduling
What & Why
Teaching kids how to handle work and money starts with consistency. But when the same chores stay permanently assigned to one child, routines get stale. Sibling teamwork suffers when responsibilities feel rigid, and tracking who did what last Saturday on paper charts quickly becomes cumbersome.
With Chore Rotation Modes & Multi-Member Assignments, Rezzyl helps families share tasks with clarity and fairness. Guardians can easily assign multiple family members to a recurring chore and choose how responsibility rotates—whether alternating by calendar week, passing the baton upon completion, or offering open tasks where any child can step forward to serve the household.
Key Capabilities
- Automatic Rotation (Rotate Mode):
- Calendar Rotation: Shifts assignments on a predictable interval (such as alternating weeks between siblings).
- Relay Rotation: Passes the baton only when the chore is finished (the chore stays with the assignee until marked done, then passes to the next child).
- Shared Pool Tasks (Anyone Mode): Assign a chore to a group of household members as an open task. It appears on each assigned member's chart until anyone steps up and completes it.
- Simultaneous Group Tasks (Everyone Mode): Assign the same chore to all selected members on the same schedule (such as all kids tidying bedrooms on Saturday morning) without duplicate entries.
- Clear Assignee Avatars: Chore cards clearly display whose turn it is, show stacked avatars for multiple candidates, and indicate rotation status at a glance.
Real-World Scenarios
- Dishwasher Duty (Weekly Calendar Rotation): Alternate kitchen cleanup between Liam and Maya every Sunday evening, ensuring equal responsibility without manual schedule editing.
- Lawn Mowing (Relay Rotation): Rotate mowing between older teens; if a weekend gets rained out, the assignee stays locked until the lawn is actually mowed before rotating to the next sibling.
- Taking Out the Trash (Anyone Mode): Offer an open household contribution where any child can step forward and take the garbage bins to the curb on Tuesday night.
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
- Single Active Budget Rule: Enforced strict household budget consistency so allowance splits and commission accounts always align.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where completing a task linked to multiple overlapping schedules could create duplicate completion records on the chart.
Next Steps
Open the Planner, edit any recurring chore, and select multiple household members under Assignees to configure your rotation mode.
